COASTAL CAMERA CLUB EXHIBIT RULES
The Coastal Camera Club will sponsor a minimum of two and a maximum of four exhibits per year (September-June). Dues must be paid before entries will be accepted for any show.
Photographs will be judged in the following categories:
1) Nature (no hand of man): Photographs must not include any man made objects, cultivated flora or show signs of human presence. (Refer to Blog post January 20, 2024)
2) Landscape/Seascape/Cityscape: The main subject of the photograph is the landscape/seascape/cityscape, not a single feature isolated from it (e.g. a shoreline with a lighthouse, not a close-up of the lighthouse). The emphasis of a cityscape should be a broad, overall view not specific architecture.
3) People: Does not have to be a portrait, but the individual or group of people must be the main subject of the photo.
4) Architecture: The dominant feature of photos in this category should be buildings, domiciles or other man-made structures particularly if details are apparent.
5) Creative: This category is for photos that are radically altered after the original image has already been produced, either digitally or through darkroom techniques. It does not include images taken with filters, multiple exposures, cropping, or standard darkroom techniques such as adjusting brightness/contrast.
6) Nature Touched By Man: Nature must be the predominant feature, but the image can contain man-made elements like a road or a fence. Examples: A hummingbird on a petunia, a hawk on a fence post. Cultivated flowers are acceptable as the subject of a photo.
7) General: Any images that do not fall into the above categories. Only three (3) entries per person is allowed in this category.
Photographs may be submitted at any of the following, as directed by the Exhibit Chairperson:
Photographs submitted after the appointed date/time may be hung at the discretion of the chairperson, but will not be judged.
Any subject matter is acceptable. However, judgment should be exercised to ensure that the photos are within the bounds of good taste.
Photographs should not have any watermarks on them, and the maker’s name should not appear on the image or the mat to allow for impartial judging.
Photographs must be framed and wired. If you are using traditional frames your images must be matted and under glass or plexiglass. Submissions will be excluded from the show if not deemed suitable by the Chairperson. This includes, but is not limited to, photos with damaged frames, broken glass, stained or damaged mats. Exceptions: Photographs printed on wood, glass, canvas, acrylic or metal do not need to be matted or framed, but must be at least 11 x 14” or 12” x 12” square. CCC and/or exhibit chairs will not be responsible for images that are not protected by glass.
Minimum print size is 8 x 8 inches with a minimum frame size of 11 x 11 inches. The maximum frame size is 20 x 24 inches. Exceptions may be considered by the Exhibits Chairperson.
The maximum number of submissions is set by the Exhibits Chairman prior to each show. The usual number is five.
Sales of exhibited photographs are subject to a 20% tax deductible donation to the Coastal Camera Club
Exhibit tags can be found here. Please create a short unique name for your image. One tag for the back, one for the front.
